If there is a way to lose a game than this is the way. We played well but lost to a better team. Well Done Aussies!
If I have to sum up the second semi-final in one sentence, all I can say is "I cannot believe this!"
On Friday, cricket was the winner. It was the competition between "The Champions" and "The Unpredictables". Pakistan are not habitual of winning all their matches; they are fond of winning the most important ones. On the other hand, Australians entered in this competition to prove a point. After an early interference of rain the match finally got underway. Clarkey won the toss and elected to field first. It looked Pakistan's game right from the beginning. The Pakistani openers were off to a flyer and they never looked back. Kamran Akmal scoring a quick fifty of 34 balls. Followed by some ruthless hitting by Junior Akmal scoring 56 off 35 balls. Pakistan successfully posted the 2nd best score of the tournament scoring 191 runs in 20 overs.
It looked Pakistan's game, it was just the half-way but Pakistani supporters started celebrating and after first few overs it looked certain that Pakistan will be facing England this sunday. But a lot of Pakistani supporters, including me, forgot that we are facing the World's most dangerous side. It was 62/4 when Cameroon White came to rescue, scoring 41 runs of 31 balls. But it was Mr. Cricket (Michael Hussey) who demolished Pakistan's dream to play 3rd consecutive t-20 final. Whoever kept his name "Mr. Cricket" would be really proud. Hussey played an unrealistic inning of 60 off just 24 balls, hitting 6 sixes and 3 fours. Hussey showed his class.
Last over 18 runs were required, And Afridi gave the ball to his best bowler, Saeed Ajmal. However, Mr. Cricket made Ajmal look ordinary with 3 sixes and a boundary in 4 consecutive balls cruising Aussies to the finals of 2010 T-20 World Cup!
It was disappointing for Pakistani fans to see the men in green not reaching to the finals but certainly if there is a way to lose than this is the way. Batted well, bowled well, fielded well.
The credit must go to the Australian side of not giving up. Michael Hussey for a moment looked Monster to me. An extra-ordinary innings by an extra ordinary player. The game had all the ingredients of becoming one of the greatest match of all times. Although Australia beat Pakistan and reached in the finals of World T-20 but the real winner was Cricket. Credit should be given to both the teams taking T-20 cricket to another level!
all i can say is july 5/6 on birmingham , the next time we play aussies in the format , we are rearing to have a knack at em and settle this score , maybe it wont be plain sailing but it never is , wanna see the back of mike hussey fairly soon , the only thing that will ease the fire .
