England favourite to win WC 2015

Ever since Gary Kirsten took over the coaching role for Indian Cricket Team - their chances to win the 2011 world cup started looking bright. Similar is the case with England and the 2015 world cup. Currently, I don't see any country taking international cricket seriously except of England. The most upsetting thing I came across is the fact that Cricket Australia have made space in their calender so that their players can participate in IPL; England being the only country not having any consideration for IPL.

The Flower-Strauss combination is also working extremely well for English team - the graph of England's performance has only increased ever since these two teamed up. Things are looking in great control and their key players are showing some excellent form.

Another interesting fact is that England will play most number of games @ Oceania until WC 2015. According to my research English team will play 3 tests, 5 odis and 1 t-20 in New Zealand; whereas 5 tests, 5 odis and 3 t-20 in Australia. Also, England will compete in a triangular series in Australia right before the World Cup '15 against Australia and India. This means that English players will not be new to Australian conditions by any means.

This is the right time for teams to start aiming for the next world cup. However, it seems that most countries are more involved in money spinning leagues and international cricket has become secondary. England, however, is focused and doing really good; the only thing they need is couple of good fast bowlers.

  1. First off 2015 is a long way away. Second off England ODI side is not as settled a affair as their test side since Ashes 05. Rather England ODI side has been the most flexible team in the world ever since I have watched cricket.

Australian and South African conditions are mint to be honest. They offer enough for everyone to not be worried about acclimatising.

  2. Yes there is a lot of time to 2015 world cup - but India didn't grow overnight to became World Champions. Signs were obvious - time will prove my point.

If we look at past we can see that those teams who dominated international cricket @ test level did very well @ odi level too. We have examples of Sri Lanka, Australia and India. English team will only improve from here on.
